proposed merge
[edit]Hi, I think Phone strap is not that useful as a separate article - I'd like to propose merging it into this article, which could include straps but also other mobile phone charms. --Karl.brown (talk) 15:39, 13 April 2009 (UTC)
uhh...
[edit]ugh...So many typos...and what is up with 'but they are mostly of characters and cheese"? I am going to take the cheese part out, and does anyone have a source on they are mostly of characters, or is that a stereotype? Mew Mitsuki (talk) 22:34, 2 June 2008 (UTC)
Netsuke
[edit]Some history is needed, what was the first phone to have strap/charm/Netsuke holes. The holes on many phones appear to be very much inspired by the holes found in traditional Japanese Netsuke. The charms appear as modern versions of Netsuke and Netsuke is a popular form of cell phone charm in Asia. In many cases the strap holes are much too small and weak to have been intended for straps and I am wondering if their is any evidence that these holes were intended from the beginning for Charms/Netsuke and interested in how Netsuke influenced the charms.
Date
[edit]While the article implies the use of cell phone charms only dates to 2005, they were defiantly in wide spread use in Asia much earlier. I have pictures showing these charms from 2001 but am certain I saw them years before that.
"Most" phones have holes?
[edit]I've checked a number of cell phones here in the USA and I have not found a single one that has a hole for a strap. So I assume that where the article claims that "most phones now have holes for them", the claim must be geographically limited -- most phones where? Japan? Asia? Europe? — Preceding unsigned comment added by 68.33.168.195 (talk) 00:39, 28 June 2011 (UTC)
